Are you an experienced Quality Manager with a background in FMCG or manufacturing? Do you have the leadership skills and technical expertise to drive quality standards, improve manufacturing processes and enhance customer satisfaction?

We are recruiting an experienced Quality Manager to take responsibility for all aspects of quality across a busy manufacturing site. This is a key position within the site management team, offering the opportunity to shape the quality function, develop a team and drive a culture of continuous improvement.

The Role

Reporting to the Plant Manager, you will lead the site's quality function, ensuring that robust quality management systems and processes are embedded throughout the manufacturing operation. You will play a key role in developing customer relationships, maintaining food safety and hygiene standards, and reducing the cost of poor quality.

Key responsibilities will include:

  • Leading and developing the site Quality team, setting clear objectives and supporting individual development.
  • Driving the implementation of a risk-based quality control plan across the manufacturing operation.
  • Managing and continually improving the site's Quality Management System (QMS).
  • Leading the transition from BRCGS to FSSC 22000 standards, including responsibility for HACCP reviews.
  • Building and maintaining strong relationships with customers and suppliers, managing quality concerns and driving improvements in customer satisfaction.
  • Overseeing customer complaints, investigations, root cause analysis and corrective actions.
  • Leading problem-solving activities and ensuring effective close-out of quality issues.
  • Working closely with manufacturing and other departments to improve product quality and process performance.
  • Developing and implementing annual quality improvement plans and supporting new product development.
  • Promoting the use of Statistical Process Control (SPC) and driving reductions in the cost of non-quality.
  • Managing quality KPIs, budgets and supplier improvement programmes.
  • Ensuring compliance with relevant legislation, food safety requirements and company standards.

About You

To be successful in this position, you will ideally have:

  • At least five years' experience managing quality within an FMCG manufacturing environment.
  • A recognised Lead Auditor qualification in ISO, BRCGS or FSSC 22000.
  • HACCP Level 3 qualification.
  • A strong understanding of quality management systems and food safety standards.
  • Experience managing customer complaints, supplier quality issues and root cause investigations.
  • Good working knowledge of SPC and continuous improvement methodologies.
  • Strong leadership skills, with the ability to develop, coach and motivate a team.
  • Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
  • A structured and analytical approach to problem-solving, with the confidence to challenge and influence at all levels.

A Lean Six Sigma Green Belt or Black Belt qualification would be advantageous. Experience using manufacturing systems and quality software, including Minitab, Power BI or MES platforms, would also be beneficial.

The Opportunity

This is an excellent opportunity for an established Quality Manager to take ownership of a site-wide quality function, influence operational performance and lead meaningful improvements within a manufacturing environment.

If you are a proactive, hands-on quality professional who enjoys developing people, improving processes and raising standards, we would be keen to hear from you.
