We are recruiting for a forward-thinking and experienced Transport Manager to lead a dynamic transport operation for our client based in County Down. This is an exciting opportunity to join a fast-paced and expanding logistics environment where your leadership and operational expertise will have direct impact.
Key Responsibilities- Lead and manage day-to-day transport operations, ensuring timely and compliant delivery schedules across the network.
- Maintain full legal compliance with all O-Licence and driver hours regulations, including regular vehicle inspections, defect reporting, and audits.
- Oversee route planning, load optimisation, and cost control to drive efficiency and service performance.
- Manage and develop a team of drivers and transport staff, ensuring clear communication, ongoing training, and performance reviews.
- Liaise with internal departments and external partners to ensure service excellence and continuous improvement.
- Handle accident investigations, disciplinary matters, and driver welfare with professionalism and adherence to company policy.
- Use transport management systems (TMS) to monitor KPIs, produce performance reports, and drive operational improvements.
- Proven experience in a senior transport role, preferably in logistics, FMCG, or general haulage.
- Strong understanding of UK and ROI transport legislation, tachograph compliance, and fleet safety standards.
- Possession of a valid CPC (Certificate of Professional Competence) in Transport Management.
- Skilled in team leadership, with the ability to engage, motivate and manage driver performance.
- Competent IT and systems user - ideally familiar with routing and scheduling software.
- Excellent communication, problem-solving and organisational skills.
