One of the largest suppliers in the UK with over 35 years' experience providing alternative energy solutions to domestic and commercial customers is looking for an HGV Technician to join the team and look after a fleet of vehicles. Your area is to cover the Southeast from Oxford, down to Southampton and across to Kent with the odd cover in other areas when needed.

Reporting to the Fleet Tanker Maintenance Manager, you will take ownership of maintaining and repairing their bulk fleet and you will be required to undertake regular gas preventative maintenance work as well as repairing gas and mechanical defects on our bulk fleet. The role will involve liaising with the Fleet Maintenance and Planning Teams who will schedule the planned maintenance and also other members of the Fleet Team for unplanned repairs & maintenance, and you may be required to be paid on call or paid standby outside of regular working hours. This entails being available to respond to urgent matters or emergencies that arise, ensuring the smooth operation and continuity of our services.

Accountabilities

  • Undertake quarterly and annual preventative gas maintenance activity on our bulk vehicle fleet
  • Respond to breakdowns on the bulk fleet across a geographic region
  • Operate safely at all times whilst maintaining our bulk fleet
  • Ensure tanker fleet is maintained to a safe, timely and satisfactory standard & liaising with suppliers to ensure non-stock parts are made available to ensure minimum downtime
  • Ensure compliance to internal procedures, group standards, industry codes of practice and legislation relating to LPG road tankers
  • Identify areas of improvement for Bulk Tanker Fleet, both retrospective and new build
  • Willingness to attend training courses outside of their allocated geographical region

Requirements

  • Qualified HGV technician preferred
  • Gas maintenance experience
  • Mechanical knowledge of HGVs relating to their build, maintenance and operation
  • Flexible approach to work
  • Full Clean Driving Licence
  • Hands-on approach to Problem Solving
  • Self-motivated with the ability to work in pressurised situations
  • Highly motivated with strong initiative

In return, the company offers a basic salary of £40k, plus 1.5 x overtime, a brand-new van, tools, uniform, PPE, 25 days holiday + 8 bank holidays and you can buy up to 5 more plus a performance bonus.
