Job Summary:

We are seeking a highly skilled and flexible HGV Relief Driver to join our dynamic team. As a vital asset within one of our six regions, you will provide cover for vacancies, holidays, training, and other absences among our branch lorry loader and tanker drivers. This role offers variety and requires flexibility, including potential nights away and weekend travel depending on the assignment.

Your Responsibilities:

  • Health & Safety: Advocate for a strong health & safety culture, prioritising safety and environmentally friendly practices. Execute safe, efficient transport deliveries that minimise risks and maximise cost-effectiveness. Ensure all incidents, near misses, and unsafe acts are reported promptly.
  • Team Responsibilities: Deliver products and services to customers on time and in full (OTIF), reporting any issues as they arise. Adhere to planned routes and movement orders. Optimise loading and unloading times to ensure all work is completed efficiently. Meet all requirements for moving abnormal loads. Operate lorry loader cranes in varying environments and conditions. Work within the Tanker team to execute customer service calls. Complete vehicle safety checks, reporting any issues immediately to ensure fleet and safety compliance. Adhere to EU driving hours and Working Time Regulations (WTD) at all times, targeting zero infringements.

Requirements:

  • Licenses and Qualifications: Valid Class 1 HGV Driving Licence with DCPC. Previous experience operating a lorry loader crane (31 tonnes to 82 tonnes). Hook experience is essential. Previous experience operating a wagon and drag combination/artic. CPCS and/or ALLMI lorry loader operator qualification / D1+E Unlimited or equivalent is required.
  • Personal Attributes: Passionate advocate for absolute safety. Driven to provide exceptional customer service. Demonstrate flexibility, as appointments may require travel away from home throughout the working week, driving various vehicles at different locations.
