Maintance Engineer in Aberford

Location: Bradford, West Yorkshire
Salary: £23.91 per hour (£43,400 basic salary) + 10%-night shift allowance + overtime opportunities
Contract: Permanent
Shift Pattern: 3 x 12-hour shifts per week on a fixed annual rota

The Opportunity

We are looking for a Maintenance Engineer to join a well-established manufacturing site in Bradford. This is a hands‑on role supporting the reliability, performance and continuous improvement of production equipment within a busy manufacturing environment.

The role is predominantly mechanically focused, with around 70% of the workload involving mechanical maintenance and fault finding. We're looking for someone who enjoys diagnosing breakdowns, solving problems and keeping production running efficiently.

Key Responsibilities

• Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) and reactive breakdown repairs.
• Diagnose and repair mechanical and electrical faults.
• Support the reliability and performance of production machinery.
• Work on conveyors, bearings, motors, gearboxes, chains, pulleys, belts, hydraulic and pneumatic systems.
• Complete maintenance activities safely and in line with company procedures.
• Support installation, commissioning and improvement projects.
• Record maintenance activities using maintenance management systems.
• Work closely with production teams to minimise downtime and improve efficiency.
• Contribute to continuous improvement and root cause analysis activities.

• Maintenance Engineer
• Multi-Skilled Engineer
• Mechanical Maintenance Engineer
• Maintenance Technician
• Manufacturing or production maintenance experience.
• Strong mechanical fault-finding skills.
• Experience carrying out both reactive maintenance and planned preventative maintenance.
• Experience with conveyors, bearings, gearboxes, motors, chains, belts and associated production equipment.
• Good problem-solving ability and a proactive approach to maintenance.
• Ability to work effectively as part of a team.
• Electrical fault-finding experience.
• Hydraulic and pneumatic systems experience.
• PLC diagnostics and basic fault finding.
• Experience within:

• Installation and commissioning experience.

Qualifications

• Engineering Apprenticeship, NVQ Level 3, City & Guilds, HNC/HND or equivalent engineering qualification.
• Previous maintenance engineering experience.
• Mechanical Engineering qualification.
• Electrical Engineering qualification.
• 18th Edition.
• Multi-skilled engineering training.
• PLC training.
