My client in Oxfordshire is hiring for a dedicated on-site Aircraft Painter to help keep aircraft looking their best-safely, accurately, and to specification. You'll work in a Part 145 environment, delivering minor paint touch-ups and local resprays, while also overseeing contracted activity off-site to maintain quality standards.
What you’ll be doing:
- Complete minor paint touch-ups and local resprays on-site to an excellent aesthetic finish
- Supervise third-party contractors undertaking full or partial resprays off-site
- Carry out immediate corrosion treatment and apply preventive coatings
- Perform in-service livery touch-ups, including registration changes and logo repairs
- Refinish components such as cowlings, panels, and manufactured parts
- Rectify paint defects before release to service-avoiding visible brush marks or "orange peel"
- Store paint correctly in the hangar and keep it compliant with regulation
- Select and order the correct paints in line with maintenance or modification documentation
- Control tooling, equipment, paint facilities, and materials to maintain strict compliance
- Act as a nominated subject matter expert (SME), owning quality, process control, methods and material usage
- Travel between sites when required, with flexibility for normal and occasional out-of-hours repairs
What you’ll bring:
- Strong compliance mindset for secure control of paints, processes, and painting techniques
- Proven ability to achieve high-quality finishes and resolve complex surface defects without "patchwork" results
- Excellent communication and supervisory capability to oversee external paint contractors
- Confidence working independently and flexibly to minimise operational downtime
- An accredited painter background with industry training and proven experience in either automotive or aircraft painting
- Ability to complete an occupational health assessment (chemicals handling, heavy lifting, and lone working conditions)
Additional information:
- If you want to broaden your skills, there's potential to diversify into hands-on aircraft engineering involvement and development
- Desired: prior experience in an EASA/UK CAA Part 145 maintenance environment and H&S certifications for hazardous material handling and curing environments
