Job Responsibilities
- Operate a Class 1 (HGV 1) vehicle on night tramper routes, completing deliveries in line with planned schedules.
- Ensure safe and compliant driving at all times, following tachograph and working time regulations.
- Carry out pre-trip and post-trip vehicle checks, reporting defects or issues promptly.
- Secure loads correctly and ensure the vehicle is prepared for safe transit before departure.
- Maintain accurate delivery and collection records, including relevant paperwork and documentation.
- Communicate professionally with transport office and customers regarding route progress and any delays.
- Adhere to company safety procedures, site rules, and customer requirements.
- Represent the company in a courteous manner while on the road and at delivery locations.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Valid UK HGV Class 1 (Category C+E) licence.
- Valid Driver CPC qualification.
- Valid UK digital tachograph card.
- Proven experience driving HGV 1 vehicles, ideally with night tramper or long-distance work.
- Strong knowledge of road safety, legal compliance, and tachograph/working time rules.
- Ability to complete vehicle checks to a high standard and report defects accurately.
- Good understanding of load security principles and safe handling practices.
- Excellent time management and route planning skills to meet delivery windows.
- Professional communication skills and a responsible approach to customer service.
- Comfort working independently during night shifts and maintaining focus for long-distance journeys.
