Job Responsibilities
- Operate an HGV vehicle in a safe and compliant manner, following all relevant driving regulations and company procedures.
- Collect, transport and deliver environmental waste materials to designated sites in line with route plans and schedules.
- Ensure loads are secured correctly and that vehicle checks are completed before and after each shift.
- Maintain accurate records, including delivery documentation and any required compliance paperwork.
- Adhere to all health and safety requirements, including safe handling practices and site rules.
- Work professionally with site staff and customers, providing a courteous and reliable service.
- Report defects, incidents and any operational concerns promptly to the transport team.
- Support efficient operations by following instructions on loading, unloading and route adjustments.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Valid HGV driving licence (appropriate category for the role) with a strong safety record.
- Driver CPC qualification and a valid digital tachograph card (where applicable).
- Experience driving HGV vehicles in a commercial environment, ideally with knowledge of environmental or waste-related operations.
- Strong understanding of UK road safety and compliance requirements, including drivers' hours and tachograph rules.
- Ability to complete vehicle checks and maintain basic vehicle cleanliness and readiness standards.
- Good communication skills and a professional approach when dealing with customers and site personnel.
- Reliable timekeeping and the ability to work to planned routes and changing operational demands.
- Comfort working in operational environments that may involve noise, traffic movement and varying weather conditions.
- Basic IT literacy to support electronic records and documentation processes.
