Our client, a leading engineering and manufacturing business, is seeking an experienced Project Engineer to join their growing team. This is an excellent opportunity for a motivated engineering professional to take ownership of projects from initial enquiry through to manufacture, completion and delivery.
Working closely with customers, suppliers, and internal departments, you will be responsible for managing engineering projects, supporting design activities, controlling project timelines, and ensuring successful delivery of high-quality engineered solutions.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage engineering projects from contract award through to final delivery
- Review customer enquiries, specifications, P&IDs, datasheets and technical requirements
- Prepare technically accurate and commercially viable quotations
- Liaise with the design team to ensure accurate and compliant drawings are produced
- Oversee drawing control, revisions, and engineering documentation
- Support the development and maintenance of Bills of Materials (BOMs)
- Coordinate material procurement activities to ensure project deadlines are met
- Manage supplier communications and monitor lead times
- Work closely with production teams to ensure technical requirements are understood and achieved
- Support fabrication and manufacturing activities to ensure quality and compliance standards are maintained
- Monitor project costs, schedules, and delivery milestones
- Contribute to product development and continuous improvement initiatives
- Ensure all certification and compliance documentation is completed accurately
About You
To be successful in this role, you will have:
- A degree in Mechanical Engineering or equivalent industry experience
- Previous experience in a Project Engineer or similar engineering role
- Experience within a manufacturing, fabrication, or engineering environment
- Knowledge of welding, fabrication, and machining processes
- The ability to interpret technical specifications, engineering drawings, and contract documentation
- Experience using 2D CAD software
- Experience with SolidWorks or other 3D CAD software would be advantageous
- Good understanding of project control, procurement, and manufacturing processes
- Strong organisational and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management abilities
Desirable Experience
- Knowledge of materials handling equipment such as conveyors, mixers, feeders, or related process equipment
- Experience supplying engineering solutions into industries such as food manufacturing, aggregates, bulk handling, or process industries
- Understanding of P&ID drawings
- Knowledge of ISO 9001 quality systems
- Good understanding of Health & Safety regulations within engineering and manufacturing environments
