The Opportunity

We are currently recruiting for a Multi-Skilled Maintenance Engineer to join a market-leading food manufacturing business. This is an excellent opportunity for an experienced engineer to play a key role in ensuring maximum plant performance, equipment reliability and continuous improvement across a fast-paced production environment.

Working as part of a highly skilled engineering team, you will be responsible for planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown support, equipment upgrades and continuous improvement initiatives, helping to drive operational excellence and world-class asset performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative, predictive and reactive maintenance across production machinery and site services.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults to minimise downtime.
  • Support installation, commissioning, refurbishment and upgrade projects.
  • Work across both electrical and mechanical disciplines.
  • Drive continuous improvement initiatives to enhance reliability, efficiency, safety and product quality.
  • Utilise and maintain the CMMS system to ensure accurate maintenance records and asset performance tracking.
  • Perform statutory inspections and safety checks as required.
  • Liaise with suppliers and contractors regarding equipment performance and maintenance requirements.
  • Update and maintain engineering documentation, electrical schematics and mechanical drawings.
  • Participate in project teams focused on improving plant design, production processes and operational efficiency.
  • Ensure full compliance with Health & Safety, Food Safety, Quality and Environmental standards at all times.
  • Support permit-to-work systems, isolation procedures and lock-off processes.
  • Share knowledge and provide coaching or training support where appropriate.

About You

To be successful in this role, you will have:

Essential

  • HNC qualification in Engineering or equivalent multi-skilled engineering qualification.
  • 17th Edition Wiring Regulations qualification (or equivalent).
  • Minimum 5 years' experience within a manufacturing or production engineering environment.
  • Strong electrical and mechanical fault-finding skills.
  • Experience working with preventative maintenance systems and CMMS.
  • Knowledge of health & safety legislation and engineering best practices.
  • Excellent problem-solving and analytical skills.
  • Strong communication skills with the ability to work effectively across departments.
  • Flexible approach with the ability to prioritise workloads in a fast-moving environment.

Desirable

  • Previous food manufacturing experience.
  • Continuous Improvement experience (Lean, Kaizen, Root Cause Analysis, etc.).
  • Coaching, mentoring or Train-the-Trainer experience.
  • Previous leadership or supervisory experience.
  • Knowledge of modern maintenance philosophies and reliability engineering.
