Our client is a third-party provider of transportation and logistics services that offers a range of services from Drayage, Global freight forwarding & Full truckload transport. The company is committed to environmental sustainability and works with customers to create action plans to reduce emissions.
We are looking for a full-time Class 2 Day Driver to join us at our site in Chepstow. This role is temp to perm for the ideal candidate.
What you’ll do on a typical day:
- Safely operate the delivery vehicle, adhering to business standards and protocols.
- Conduct thorough vehicle checks to ensure roadworthiness and compliance with VOSA regulations.
- Perform white goods deliveries, accompanied by a driver’s mate.
- Execute two types of deliveries: home deliveries and kerbside deliveries.
- For home deliveries, transport items to the customer’s room of choice, including carrying items to homes that may be several stories high.
- For kerbside deliveries, hand off items directly to individuals on building sites.
- Deliver items such as white goods (e.g., dishwashers, washing machines, fridges), kitchen units, and worktops.
- Handle multidrop deliveries, with the number of stops varying daily.
- Use a handheld scanner and complete all necessary paperwork.
- The presence of a driver’s mate depends on the delivery type; assistance is usually available on-site for kerbside deliveries.
- Physical fitness is essential for this role due to the nature of the work.
- Strong communication skills and a positive demeanour are required for direct interaction with customers.
What you need to succeed with our client:
- HGV 2 licence, Digital Tachograph Card, Driver Certificate of Professional Competence (CPC)
- No more than six penalty points on your licence and no DD, DR, IN or CD endorsements.
- Minimum 6 months Class 2 experience
- A valid CPC and Digital Tacho card.
- Multidrop delivery experience.
- Excellent knowledge of the UK road network.
- A can-do attitude.
