The Role
We are looking for experienced Class 1 HGV Drivers to work on an ad-hoc basis, providing cover for holidays, sickness, and peak operational periods. This role is ideal for drivers seeking flexible work. While the role is predominantly Class 1, drivers may occasionally be required to operate a Class 2 vehicle when covering for other team members.
The work may include:
- UK-wide deliveries
- Overnight stays, as required
- Occasional weekend work
Please note: This is not a full-time role and hours cannot be guaranteed.
Pay & Allowances
£16.00 per hour (PAYE)
£24.00 per hour overtime (time and a half)
Overnight allowance and expenses paid where applicable
Key Responsibilities
- Safe and timely delivery of goods to customers
- Ensuring vehicle and load security
- Completing daily vehicle checks and defect reporting
- Compliance with all tachograph, driving hours, and road transport regulations
- Accurate completion of mileage and journey records
- Providing a professional level of customer service
Driver Requirements
- Due to insurance requirements, applicants must:
- Be 25 years of age or over
- Hold a valid Class 1 (C+E) licence (Class 2 desirable)
- Have a minimum of 1 years Class 1 driving experience
- Hold a valid CPC Driver Card and Digital Tachograph Card
- Have no more than 6 points on their licence
- Experience in a busy transport or warehouse environment preferred
