Job Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical testing and inspection activities in line with relevant standards and project requirements.
- Perform routine and fault-finding tests on electrical systems, ensuring results are recorded accurately.
- Verify installation integrity by conducting appropriate test procedures and interpreting outcomes.
- Produce clear test documentation, including reports and evidence packs, suitable for audit and sign-off.
- Support engineers and project teams to ensure testing activities are planned, executed and completed efficiently.
- Maintain safe working practices and comply with site rules, risk assessments and method statements.
- Escalate issues promptly and recommend corrective actions where test results indicate non-conformance.
- Work collaboratively with stakeholders to ensure deadlines are met without compromising quality.
Required Skills & Qualifications
- Proven experience as an Electrical Test Engineer or in a closely related electrical testing role.
- Strong knowledge of electrical testing methods and test equipment used for verification and compliance.
- Competence in interpreting test results and identifying potential defects or installation issues.
- Working knowledge of relevant UK electrical standards and regulations (including inspection and testing requirements).
- Ability to produce accurate, professional test reports and maintain high standards of documentation.
- Strong understanding of electrical safety practices and safe systems of work.
- Relevant electrical qualification (for example, City & Guilds or equivalent) and demonstrable technical competence.
- Experience using test instruments such as insulation resistance testers and continuity testers.
- Excellent attention to detail, with a methodical approach to testing and recording outcomes.
- Good communication skills to liaise effectively with site teams and stakeholders.
