Join the microbiology quality control team at Thermo Fisher Scientific, where your work helps make the world healthier, cleaner, and safer. As a QC Associate Scientist, you'll play a vital role in ensuring our products meet the highest safety and quality standards through meticulous testing and analysis.

What you'll do:

  • Perform microbiological quality control testing in line with established methods and SOPs.
  • Prepare and test culture media.
  • Accurately record and report results using SAP Quality Management systems.
  • Investigate and document any out-of-specification results (OOS).
  • Maintain laboratory equipment, cleanliness, and consumables.
  • Follow all safety, quality, and environmental procedures.
  • Take part in team meetings and continuous improvement initiatives.
  • Collaborate effectively with teams including QA, Manufacturing, and Planning.

What we're looking for:

  • Degree (or working towards one) in Microbiology or a related scientific discipline - equivalent experience also considered.
  • Experience in a microbiology lab (academic or industrial).
  • Strong attention to detail and adherence to procedures.
  • Solid basic lab skills - pipetting, plate pouring, streaking, and swabbing.
  • Good numeracy and data recording skills.
  • Familiarity with SAP and MS Office is an advantage.
  • Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.
  • Reliable, organised, and safety-conscious.

  • Casual dress code - jeans, T-shirts, and jumpers welcome.
  • Hair must be tied back if longer than shoulder length; short nails required.
  • PPE and safety shoes provided.
  • Onsite laboratory setting.
