Our client is a global leader in industrial metrology and quality solutions, supporting some of the world's most innovative manufacturers across automotive, aerospace, medical and precision engineering sectors.
Due to continued growth and expansion, they are seeking an Applications Engineer to join their Industrial Quality Solutions team.
This is an excellent opportunity for a metrology professional to combine technical expertise with customer engagement while working with industry-leading measurement technologies across the UK and Ireland.
The Role
As an Applications Engineer, you will act as a technical specialist across a portfolio of advanced metrology solutions, supporting customers throughout the lifecycle of their systems.
Working across both pre-sales and post-sales activities, you will provide technical consultancy, demonstrations, training, inspection services, programming support and troubleshooting expertise.
You will play a key role in helping customers maximise the value of their investment whilst contributing to business growth and customer satisfaction.
- You’ll work with a range of advanced measurement technologies, including:
- Coordinate Measuring Machines (CMMs)
- Optical Measurement Systems
- X-Ray / Computed Tomography (CT) Solutions
- Industry-leading metrology software platforms
Key Responsibilities
- Take ownership of customer inspection service projects from initial enquiry through to successful delivery
- Carry out inspection programming, measurement activities and results analysis
- Present technical findings and recommendations to customers
- Deliver pre-sales and post-sales technical support
- Conduct software and hardware demonstrations
- Provide customer training, mentoring and technical consultancy
- Manage technical support cases and resolve customer issues
- Support quotation generation, project planning and scheduling activities
- Install and configure software solutions
- Support tender responses and technical sales activities
- Work closely with Sales, Service, Operations and Applications teams
- Identify opportunities for aftermarket services, including training, software upgrades and support agreements
- Maintain up-to-date knowledge of software, products and emerging technologies
- Travel throughout the UK & Ireland to support customer requirements
About You
We're keen to speak with candidates from metrology, manufacturing, quality or precision engineering environments who enjoy working directly with customers and solving technical challenges.
Essential
- Strong understanding of GD&T and engineering drawings
- Experience operating CMM, Optical or CT metrology equipment
- Experience with metrology software and inspection programming
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills
- Excellent communication and presentation skills
- Customer-focused approach with strong relationship-building skills
- Engineering qualification (Apprenticeship, HNC, HND, Degree or equivalent experience)
- Full UK driving licence
- Willingness to travel across the UK & Ireland, including occasional overnight stays
Desirable
- Experience with CALYPSO, ZEISS INSPECT or GOM Inspect
- X-Ray or Computed Tomography inspection experience
- AUKOM or NPL certification
- Experience delivering customer training
- Experience supporting technical sales activities
- Knowledge of quality management systems and inspection reporting
- Experience within automotive, aerospace, medical device or precision engineering sectors
