Field Service Engineer

About the Role


We are recruiting for a Field Service Engineer on behalf of an established UK engineering business specialising in security entrance and access control solutions.
This is an excellent opportunity for a hands‑on engineer who enjoys fault finding, customer interaction and working independently in a field‑based environment. The successful candidate will be responsible for servicing, maintaining and repairing a range of electro‑mechanical equipment across customer sites.
The role involves planned preventative maintenance, reactive breakdown support and installation assistance, ensuring customers receive a professional and efficient service at all times.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out planned preventative maintenance (PPM) visits on customer equipment.
  • Diagnose and repair electrical and mechanical faults.
  • Attend customer sites to complete reactive service and breakdown work.
  • Ensure all service visits are completed to a high standard and within agreed service levels.
  • Complete service reports and associated documentation accurately and on time.
  • Maintain company vehicle stock levels and manage spare parts effectively.
  • Liaise with customers, suppliers and internal technical support teams.
  • Follow all health, safety and compliance procedures.
  • Ensure company equipment, tools and vehicles are maintained correctly.
  • Support technical improvements and contribute to continuous service excellence.
  • Participate in occasional out‑of‑hours, weekend and overnight travel when required.

  • Experience working on electro‑mechanical equipment.
  • Excellent customer service and communication skills.
  • Ability to work independently and manage your own workload.
  • Competent IT skills with experience completing digital service records.
  • Strong attention to detail and problem‑solving ability.
  • Full UK Driving Licence.
