The role
Manor Wood School is seeking an inspiring and creative SEN Teacher to join its growing specialist school in Bristol. This permanent, term-time-only position offers 40 hours per week, Monday to Friday, 8:30am to 4:30pm, with a salary of up to £45,000 per annum depending on experience. The role begins in April 2027.
Key responsibilities
- Plan and deliver creative, engaging and personalised lessons across the secondary curriculum.
- Adapt teaching to individual learning needs, helping every pupil access education and experience meaningful success.
- Create a calm, nurturing and inclusive classroom where pupils feel safe, understood and ready to learn.
- Build positive relationships that develop confidence, resilience, independence and a love of learning.
- Monitor and celebrate progress, using assessment to shape personalised learning and next steps.
- Work closely with Teaching Assistants, therapists, families and the wider school team to provide consistent, holistic support.
- Contribute to curriculum development, enrichment opportunities and the continued growth of the school.
- Champion safeguarding and promote the wellbeing of every child and young person.
Requirements
- Hold UK Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) or an equivalent recognised teaching qualification.
- Demonstrate passion for supporting children and young people with SEND.
- Bring learning to life through creative, flexible and engaging teaching.
- Build strong, trusting relationships and understand that connection is often the key to unlocking learning.
- Be patient, resilient and able to adapt when things do not go to plan.
- Enjoy working collaboratively with education, therapy and support colleagues.
- Maintain high expectations while recognising and celebrating each pupil’s individual journey.
- Be committed to professional development and contributing to a positive, ambitious school community.
