Your Role

Are you passionate about Maths and ready to inspire the next generation? The Gatwick School is seeking a Trainee Teacher of Maths on a fixed-term, full‑time basis to join our dedicated and supportive team. This is an exciting opportunity to train towards Qualified Teacher Status (QTS) while gaining valuable classroom experience within an all-through school.

Qualifications

  • Degree in a relevant subject essential.
  • GCSE Maths and English grade 4‑9 (A‑C) or equivalent essential.

  • Knowledge of SEN Code of Practice essential.
  • Ability to analyse and evaluate pupil data in order to set aspirational and challenging targets for individuals essential.
  • Ability to develop a classroom environment ethos and structure for managing behaviour which enables pupils to become independent and self‑managing essential.
  • Ability to think creatively and to prioritise essential.
  • Excellent communication (written, oral, and presentation skills) essential.
  • Excellent self‑awareness and ability to manage self essential.
  • Willingness to learn from others and both seek and take advice essential.
  • Ability to integrate equality policies into action essential.

Experience

  • Experience of effective implementation and use of ICT to innovate learning essential.
  • Excellent interpersonal skills essential.
  • Demonstrate knowledge and understanding of equality issues and legislation (both provision and outcomes) essential.
  • Experience of teaching a class or subject area.
  • Teaching experience in more than one school.
  • Proven track record in bringing about improvement in pupil outcomes.
  • Experience of Ofsted processes.

Experience / Knowledge

  • In depth knowledge of best practice in teaching and learning, including the use of ICT to support pupil achievement essential.
  • Knowledge of curriculum and best practice in relation to the relevant key stage(s) essential.
  • Understanding and application of school improvement principles essential.
  • Knowledge of local and national safeguarding requirements essential.
  • Thorough knowledge and understanding of national priorities and current developments.

Leadership

  • Ability to work effectively as part of the school team and with governors, trustees, pupils, guardians/carers, stakeholders and partners within, and beyond, the education sector essential.
  • Ability to lead, motivate, develop, and inspire staff and encourage pupil and parental engagement.
