About Manor of Groves Hotel, Golf & Health Club

The Hotel is located in 150 acres of idyllic Hertfordshire countryside, yet is within easy reach of major motorways and airports and offers free on-site parking for 200 cars. Situated in Sawbridgeworth, and 3 miles from Harlow, with Stansted Airport approximately 20 minutes drive from this beautifully restored Georgian Manor House. The stunning architecture and picturesque grounds provide the perfect backdrop for conferences and events with a capacity of up to 400 guests. The Hotel has 80 bedrooms, including superior and four poster bedrooms for that extra special break plus complimentary access to the state of the art leisure club with gym, pool, sauna and steam room. A range of beauty treatments are also available. The 18 hole Championship Golf Course is designed around the Hotel and provides a challenging, yet enjoyable experience, regardless of handicap.

About Conference, Banqueting, Food and Beverage Manager

We are seeking a highly motivated and committed Conference, Banqueting, Food & Beverage Manager to oversee our events and service operations, ensuring the highest standards of guest satisfaction, efficiency, and team performance.

Key Responsibilities

  • Lead all aspects of the Conference, Banqueting, and Food & Beverage departments to ensure smooth, professional service delivery.
  • Maintain exceptional standards of hygiene, presentation, and organization in all service and storage areas.
  • Conduct daily briefings and debriefings with the team to ensure service standards are consistently met, and collaborate with staff to identify and resolve any operational concerns.
  • Liaise with the Sales Office to review and discuss function sheets, ensuring staff rostering and allocation consistently meet the requirements of the business and scheduled events.
  • Work closely with the Head Chef, supervisors, and managers to ensure menus, service, and facilities meet high standards and provide a wide choice for guests.
  • Collaborate with Porters to ensure timely event setup and flawless execution.
  • Recruit, train, and develop staff in partnership with the HR and Operations Managers to meet current and future departmental needs.
  • Manage staffing levels, scheduling, and budgets efficiently.
  • Ensure compliance with company policies and statutory health & safety, hygiene, and licensing requirements.
  • Act as Manager on Duty, handling guest feedback and operational issues promptly and professionally.

Skills and Requirements

  • Proven experience in a similar role within a hotel or hospitality environment.
  • Strong leadership, organizational, and communication skills.
  • Excellent customer service with a hands-on, flexible approach, supporting and working alongside the team when required.
  • Flexibility to work according to the needs of the business, including weekends, evenings and special events.
  • Ability to perform under pressure in a busy operational setting.
  • Proficiency in English essential; additional languages an advantage.
  • Enthusiastic, motivated, and committed to delivering exceptional guest experiences.
