Project Manager / Estimator in Castletown

Location: Hybrid - Manor Marine UK Ltd, Portland Port, Dorset, UK.

Contract Type: Full time, Permanent, Hybrid.

WE ARE SEEKING an experienced Project Manager / Estimator to lead the planning, estimating and delivery of commercial vessel construction, refit, repair and maintenance projects.

This is a senior, hands‑on role requiring substantial marine industry experience. You'll develop accurate, commercially robust estimates, manage projects from enquiry through to completion, and ensure work is delivered safely, on time, to specification and within budget, working closely with customers, suppliers, subcontractors and internal teams.

You'll be based at our shipyard in Portland Port, Dorset. Hybrid working is a possibility, with occasional travel to visit customers, offsite projects and events. The role may occasionally require working outside of usual hours, including at the weekend, to meet project and customer requirements, or whilst attending an event.

• Significant marine industry experience across such areas such as vessel construction, service, repair and refit, marine and general engineering.
• Minimum 5 years managing or supervising shipyard projects, with demonstrable delivery responsibility.
• Strong estimating and commercial experience, including quotations, budgets and cost forecasts
• Experience reviewing engineering drawings, specifications and technical requirements
• Experience obtaining and evaluating supplier and subcontractor quotations
• Good understanding of marine production processes, materials, labour requirements and project planning
• Strong understanding of cost control, variations and commercial risk
• Excellent communication skills, with credibility at all levels of seniority
• Strong organisational skills and attention to detail
• Competent in Microsoft Word, Excel and Outlook
• Good written and spoken English, with sound mathematical ability

Project Management & Delivery

• Own the planning and delivery of allocated projects from enquiry to handover.
• Create and issue project plans covering milestones, objectives, resources and timescales.
• Monitor plans and ensure actions are completed to agreed timescales.
• Track progress through production, and ensure materials, equipment and resources are available when needed.
• Identify and resolve issues affecting cost, quality or programme Report progress, risks and commercial performance to the General Manager.
• Ensure required checks, inspections and completion activities are carried out and recorded.
• Support commissioning, trials, acceptance and final handover.
• Act as a key point of contact for customers throughout the project lifecycle.
• Provide clear, professional communication and regular progress updates.
• Build strong working relationships with suppliers and subcontractors, negotiating pricing, availability and delivery where appropriate.
• Manage customer expectations and support long‑term relationships and repeat business.

HSEQ

• Implement Manor Marine's Health, Safety, Quality and Environmental procedures for all work under your control.
• Ensure risk assessments, method statements and permits are in place and followed.
• Initiate and record safety inspections, and report hazards, incidents, near misses and non‑conformances.
• Promote a positive safety culture and ensure work meets applicable legislation, company procedures and customer requirements.

What We're Looking For

• Significant marine industry experience. Shipbuilding, ship repair, refit, marine engineering or similar.
