Overall scope and purpose of job
To be effective and efficient in the operational running of the Laundry department, whilst maintaining standards and practices to assist Laundry meet its service requirements as well as adhering to company and statutory regulations.
Main duties and responsibilities
- Responsible for receiving, sorting, washing, drying, ironing, storing and issuing of linen.
- Reporting damaged linen to your supervisor or Manager.
- Operate equipment in as per instructions, if unsure stop and ask.
- Report all equipment faults immediately to either the Supervisor or Manager.
- Remove and report damaged linen to Supervisor or Manager.
- Work at an efficient pace to ensure laundry is completed on time.
- React to any management or supervisor requests in a timely and efficient manner.
- Carry out tasks as shown on the departmental cleaning rota as to the standards required.
- To be aware of Health and Safety and COSHH Regulations within the department.
If there are any concerns advice should be sought from the Laundry Supervisor, Manager or Group Health and Safety Manager immediately.
- Dispose of waste accordingly and be environmentally aware at all times.
- Adhere to procedures for the security of property and report immediately any suspicious circumstances or persons acting strangely.
- Maintain a high level of personal hygiene and appearance, wearing the appropriate clothing / protective clothing.
- Record your work attendance on time management system in line with Employee Handbook.
- Work safely conforming to statutory and company health and safety regulations, especially fire precautions, manual handling and reporting of accidents.
Report all accidents, defective equipment and hazards to Laundry Supervisor, Manager or Group Health & Safety Manger.
- Develop and maintain effective working relations with colleagues in other departments across the business.
- Occasional duties
- Assist in other departments during emergencies or as deemed necessary by management.
- Attend departmental training sessions whenever instructed.
- Carry out when instructed by Supervisor or Manager, any other duty or task outside the normal daily/weekly routine that’s deemed reasonable and within your capabilities.
