Role Overview

This role is responsible for contributing significantly to the progress and outcomes of learners and for raising achievement through effective literacy and reading strategies.

Key Responsibilities

  • Develop and implement strategies to raise literacy and reading achievement across KS3 / KS4.
  • Establish a strong reading culture within the school.
  • Support teachers and students in their academic development through targeted reading initiatives.
  • Collaborate with school leadership to align reading programmes with curriculum objectives.
  • Monitor and report on progress and impact of reading initiatives.

Qualifications

  • Experience working with young people in an educational setting.
  • Understanding of the KS3 / KS4 curriculum and how to support student development.
  • A passion for reading and literacy and a recognition of its importance within an educational setting.
  • Strong communication and teamwork skills.

Salary & Contract

  • Contract type: Permanent.
  • Location: Leicester, Leicestershire.
  • Hours: 37.5 per week, term time (Monday to Friday, 08:30 – 16:30 with an unpaid 30‑minute lunch break).
  • Full‑time salary: £31,537 – £34,434 per annum (actual salary £28,287 – £30,885 per annum, 89.69% FTE).
  • Holiday: 2 weeks.
