About the role
Our client is seeking a seasoned Transition Director to spearhead a high-impact IT transition for a leading UK telecom client. This role involves managing the seamless transition of over £100Mn+ worth of business across multiple incumbent vendors. You will lead a mission-critical initiative that directly influences business continuity and operational excellence.
Work closely with CXO-level stakeholders, ensuring strategic alignment and flawless execution. Drive end-to-end transition planning, risk mitigation, and governance in a dynamic, multi-vendor environment. Leverage your expertise to deliver zero-disruption handovers and measurable business outcomes. This is a fast-paced, high-visibility program with global exposure and leadership accountability with a collaborative culture that values innovation, ownership, and strategic thinking.
Key responsibilities
- Lead end-to-end transition planning and execution for IT services from multiple incumbent vendors.
- Develop and manage detailed transition plans, timelines, risk registers, and governance structures.
- Coordinate cross-functional teams including service delivery, HR, legal, finance, and IT operations.
- Ensure compliance with contractual obligations, SLAs, and regulatory requirements.
- Establish and manage transition governance including steering committees, reporting cadence, and escalation protocols.
- Drive stakeholder engagement across client, incumbent vendors, and internal teams.
- Monitor and report on transition progress, risks, and mitigation strategies.
- Ensure knowledge transfer, documentation, and operational readiness for steady-state delivery.
- Manage change management and communication plans to support impacted teams and stakeholders.
Must have skills and experience
- Minimum 15 years of experience in IT services, with at least 5-7 years in transition leadership roles involving large-scale workforce and service migrations.
- Directed a large-scale transition program involving 800+ FTE across multiple IT workstreams.
- Proven track record of leading large-scale transitions across multiple vendors.
- Strong understanding of ITIL, service management, and outsourcing models.
- Exceptional program management skills with experience in tools like MS Project, JIRA, or equivalent.
- Excellent stakeholder management and communication skills at CXO level.
- Deep understanding of contractual frameworks, SLAs, and vendor governance.
- Experience in risk management, issue resolution, and escalation handling.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced, high-pressure environment with multiple moving parts.
Good to have skills
- Experience in telecom domain transitions or managed services.
- Familiarity with Agile/DevOps methodologies.
- Exposure to global delivery models and Onshore-offshore models.
- Certifications such as PMP, Prince2, ITIL Expert.
- Strong analytical and financial acumen to manage budgets and cost optimization.
Qualifications
- Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in IT, Business, or related field.
- Certifications in PMP, PRINCE2, ITIL, or equivalent.
