Our client, an operational technology and digital transformation company, is recruiting for this role in Staffordshire, UK.
Responsibilities
As part of the Inspection and Test Team you will be responsible to inspect and test equipment to ensure the safety and functional operation of the equipment. All testing and inspection are completed using the electrical schematic drawings for the project and a project specific Hardware Test Specification which is written by the Hardware Engineer responsible for the project. The Inspection and Test Specification identifies the inspections and tests to be performed to comply with the requirements of the Low Voltage Directive (LVD) and Electromagnetic Compatibility (EMC) Directive as a minimum, together with any other customer specific standards which the equipment has been designed to comply with. The role includes some customer acceptance testing and although office based, occasional site work may be necessary. System Software tests are covered by separate test specifications, and you may also be required on an ad‑hoc basis to support the Software Team to facilitate the completion of their tests.

- Power up, fusing and equipment functionality checks
- Any other equipment specific tests as detailed in the project hardware test specification

- PLC based automation control panels
- IT cubicles which may contain computing and networking equipment
Requirements
The ideal candidate must be experienced and competent in testing wired assemblies from an individual back plate to a fully assembled control system and:
- Able to read and interpret circuit diagrams, general assembly prints, wiring schedules and parts lists
- Able to understand and implement test procedures and instructions
- Able to inspect and test cubicles in line with Company standards
- Able to maintain/complete test documentation and reports
- Have operational knowledge of components such as MCB’s, RCD’s, Fuses, Transformers, Power supplies and safety critical components
- Must be proficient in the use of electronic multi‑meters and other test equipment
- Must have worked within an ISO 9001 compliant quality system
- Have the willingness and ability to attend at customer sites to witness equipment tests
- All necessary technical training will be given as well as specific Health and Safety related training as appropriate to comply
- Current driving licence
- The ability to work towards SC Clearance
Educational Requirements
Applicants should possess a nationally recognised technical qualification in an Electrical/Electronic discipline, e.g HNC/HND, 17th Edition C&G2382 & Inspection & Test, completed a modern apprenticeship or similar.
