The Youth Pastor is responsible for coordinating and overseeing a comprehensive youth ministry focused on building young disciples for Christ. Areas of focus include teaching, discipleship, outreach/evangelism, and missions. He serves as an engaging, godly leader and role model with strong biblical knowledge and wisdom.
At present, the following populations are involved: Elementary School, Middle School, High School Students, and College Age Young Adults (works alongside Young Adult Minister). This position reports to the Senior Pastor.
Four Fold Scope- To have a presence in the community, especially the schools, in order to gain familiarity and trust among the young people, and therefore, earn the right and gain opportunities to engage them with the gospel.
- To spend the bulk of his time teaching, training, and discipling the youth who respond to the gospel, with an emphasis on the young men.
- To oversee and build up the various aspects of the Youth and Young Adult ministries so that we are fulfilling our mission and vision of being a church that wins souls for Christ, shaping them into authentic disciples who in turn make disciples; a church that impacts our community with the gospel!
- To have a clear and demonstrable Biblical World View.
- Meets the 1 Timothy 3, Titus 1, and 1 Peter 5 qualifications for church leaders.
- Has a clear testimony to a saving, sanctifying, and growing relationship with the Lord Jesus Christ.

- Attend and participate in church staff/leadership meetings.
- Collaborate with church leaders in planning, developing, and implementing all aspects of an engaging and fruitful Youth Ministry and Young Adult Ministry.
- Seek to integrate Youth Ministry into all phases of church life to create a culture that is intentionally intergenerational, striving to unite with and complement other church ministries.
- Act with minimal supervision and provide guidance to church leadership in all areas concerning Youth Ministry.
- Arrive far enough in advance to any scheduled event to ensure the necessary support staff and items are in place.
- Attend worship services and designated prayer times.
- Present ministry updates and evaluations to the Pastor.
- Participate in a yearly job performance review.
- Participate in the examining and choosing of curriculum for all programs, events, and classes.
- Lead youth to genuine faith in Christ and guide their spiritual growth.
- Provide counseling to youth.
- Exemplify obedience to the Word of God and devotion to a deep-rooted prayer life, praying regularly for young people in the church and community.
- Support parents in effectively fulfilling their Christian parenting roles, in concert with other pastoral staff.
- Train and recruit volunteers for efficient running of the ministry.
- Monitor everyday activities and ensure effectiveness of all programs.
- Evaluate personal and spiritual life of youth and manage regular visits to their homes.
- Develop yearly youth ministry budget and oversee expenditures.
- Available to work extended hours, evenings, weekends, and public holidays, and on short notice.
- Develop Youth and Young Adult Programming which is holistic: Physical – Activities which are engaging, fun, and innovative. Spiritual – Develop Spiritual Formation Concept, which is Biblical, culturally engaging, relational, and relevant. Emotional – Concerned with programming which affects the Spiritual/Mental Health of Youth and Young Adults.
- Effectively work in the Public-School System, DSS, and DJS agencies.
- Provide Mentoring to Youth and Young Adults.
- Build effective leadership team among youth.
- Provide Training for youth and Young Adult staff.
- Develop parental support group.
- Work closely with Pastor to develop “The Protocol.”
- Develop transitional model for Teens moving to young adulthood.
- Build and develop community youth consortium.
- Develop the ICO faith-based and spiritual youth programs.
- Work with Parents and Families.
- Other duties as required.
- Has a bachelor’s degree in theology, biblical studies, or youth ministry.
- Prefer 2 to 4 years of experience in youth mentoring, youth counseling, youth development, or related experience.
