The Role

I am looking for a CAD Technician to join my client’s successful manufacturing business.

Reporting directly to the Design Manager, you will translate architects' plans, site surveys and customer sketches into high-quality technical layouts and thermal calculations.

You will play a vital commercial and technical role, ensuring accuracy from initial quotation through to manufacturing and on-site delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Technical Drafting: Produce and modify 2D layout drawings reflecting real-world site conditions.
  • Design Integration: Interpret intricate technical details and maintain design intent.
  • Thermal Calculations: Perform thermal calculations.
  • Component Scheduling: Generate itemised material schedules for accurate estimating, production pricing and structural build-ups.
  • Commercial Awareness: Identify and flag projects with unusual build-ups or non-standard components requiring pricing reviews.
  • Logistics Planning: Outline clear delivery schedules and distinct delivery zones directly onto project drawings.
  • Project Delivery: Manage workflows efficiently to complete multiple high-quality projects per day.
  • Stakeholder Management: Communicate technical guidance and project deadlines to internal teams and external professionals.
  • The Candidate
  • Education: HNC, HND, or Degree in a construction/manufacturing discipline (or equivalent industry experience).
  • Experience: Minimum 2 years as a CAD Technician in construction, manufacturing or engineering.
  • CAD Skills: Essential proficiency in 2D software (Auto CAD, Revit, Solid Works). Drawing Express is highly desirable.
  • Specialist Software (Desirable): Experience with U-value software (JPA, Build Desk), estimating tools, or CRM systems (Salesforce, Efficy).
