Salary: £40k per annum + £6500 car allowance + bonus - OTE up to £80k

About the Role

We are seeking a proactive and commercially driven Business Development Manager to spearhead the growth of my client's specialized Battery Testing Services. In this pivotal role, you will expand your client base across the automotive, aerospace, renewable energy, and grid storage sectors. You will be responsible for selling technical, high-value testing and consultancy services to both existing and prospective customers. This is a remote-based role with travel required across the UK to meet with key stakeholders.

Key Responsibilities

  • Strategic Business Development: Identify, target, and acquire new clients, delivering technical presentations to procurement teams, engineers, and technical specialists.
  • Market Expansion: Grow the sales pipeline within automotive, aerospace, wider transportation, grid, and renewable energy sectors.
  • Stakeholder Engagement: Engage with industry influencers, government bodies, funding agencies, and trade organisations.
  • Tender Management: Support the General Manager in the preparation, submission, and follow-up of technical tenders and quotations.
  • Commercial Strategy: Assist in developing and executing sales plans, conducting market analysis, and forecasting battery testing/consultancy demand.
  • CRM & Reporting: Maintain accurate sales records in the company CRM, monitoring service development to drive continuous improvement and cross-selling opportunities.

Required Skills & Experience

  • Experience: Proven experience in a technical sales or business development manager role, preferably within testing, inspection, certification, or the battery energy sector.
  • Technical Aptitude: Sound knowledge of battery testing methods, standards, and safety standards.
  • Communication: Exceptional verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to deliver engaging presentations to technical and non-technical audiences.
  • Proactive Mindset: Results-driven, confident, and proactive approach to building professional relationships.
  • Autonomy: Ability to manage your own diary, work independently, and travel to client locations.
