We are seeking a motivated and technically capable Electrical Engineer to join our growing M&E Engineering team supporting the delivery of the HS2 programme. The successful candidate will be responsible for the design, coordination, review, and delivery of electrical engineering systems across major rail and infrastructure projects. Working within a multidisciplinary MEICA team, you will contribute to the development of safe, efficient, and compliant electrical solutions from concept design through construction, testing, commissioning, and handover. This role offers an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK's most significant infrastructure projects while developing your technical and professional expertise.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Design & Engineering
- Produce and review electrical engineering designs for rail and infrastructure projects in accordance with project requirements.
- Develop electrical calculations, specifications, reports, drawings, and technical documentation.
- Design and coordinate systems including:
- LV power distribution systems
- Small power installations
- Internal and external lighting systems
- Emergency lighting systems
- Earthing and bonding systems
- Standby power and UPS systems
- Cable containment and routing
- Fire alarm and life safety interfaces
- Building services electrical installations
- Assist with load assessments, fault level studies, cable sizing, and protection coordination.
- Design Coordination
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, civil, structural, architectural, and systems engineering disciplines.
- Participate in design reviews, multidisciplinary workshops, and technical meetings.
- Support BIM and digital engineering processes to ensure coordinated and clash-free designs.
- Review supplier and subcontractor technical submissions.
- Project Delivery
- Support project teams throughout all design and construction phases.
- Respond to technical queries and provide engineering support to site teams.
- Monitor progress against design programmes and project milestones.
- Assist in managing design changes and ensuring accurate documentation control.

- Support testing and commissioning activities for electrical systems.
- Review commissioning documentation and test results.
- Assist with system integration, fault finding, and handover activities.
- Support the preparation of operation and maintenance documentation.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
- Essential
- Degree or HND/HNC in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related discipline.
- Experience in electrical engineering design within infrastructure, rail, construction, or building services environments.
- Knowledge of electrical distribution systems and building services installations.
- Familiarity with BS 7671 and relevant industry standards.
- Ability to interpret engineering drawings, specifications, and technical documentation.
- Proficiency in Microsoft Office applications.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills.
- Excellent communication and teamwork abilities.

- Experience working on rail, transportation, tunnelling, or major infrastructure projects.
- Knowledge of HS2, Network Rail, or London Underground standards.
- Experience using electrical design software such as:

- Understanding of BIM Level 2 and digital engineering processes.
- Membership of a relevant professional institution (IET or equivalent).
