  • Welders to join a major defence manufacturing programme in

Stockport .

This is an excellent opportunity for experienced Welders looking to work within a highly regulated engineering environment, manufacturing complex components and assemblies for the defence sector.

The Role

As a Welder, you will be responsible for producing high-quality welded components and assemblies, with a particular focus on

MIG welding aluminium .

Your responsibilities will include

  • Carrying out

MIG welding on aluminium components and assemblies.

  • Working from engineering drawings, weld procedures and specifications.
  • Preparing, setting up and welding components to the required standards.
  • Welding aluminium across a range of material thicknesses and joint configurations.
  • Preparing materials prior to welding, including cleaning, cutting and fitting.
  • Carrying out visual inspection and quality checks on completed welds.
  • Identifying and rectifying weld defects where required.
  • Using welding equipment, hand tools and associated workshop equipment safely.
  • Working closely with Fabricators, Fitters and other production teams.
  • Maintaining high standards of quality, health & safety and housekeeping.

About You

We're looking for Welders with

  • Proven experience as a

Welder within an engineering or manufacturing environment.

  • Strong

MIG welding experience .

  • Time-served apprentice with an L3 NVQ, C&G or equivalent

Aluminium welding experience is essential/desirable , depending on experience.

  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Good understanding of welding processes, preparation and finishing.
  • Experience working to quality standards and welding procedures.
  • Experience within defence, aerospace, automotive, rail or heavy engineering would be advantageous.
  • Good attention to detail and a commitment to producing quality work.
