Technical Buyer / Material Controller – Prototype Build (Contract) What to Expect This role is integrated within the Prototype Engineering and Supply Chain Team and is essential to ensuring the seamless delivery of our early-phase prototype builds. Reporting to the Prototype Engineering Manager, the successful candidate will handle a variety of responsibilities focused on technical buying and material control for carry-over and non-stock parts. As a core member of the supply chain, this individual will work closely with internal and external stakeholders to meet part demand and guarantee timely delivery of all required materials. What You’ll Do Manage stock and non-stock procurement across the Prototype Team’s requirements. Support a lean approach to achieve key purchasing goals. Monitor performance of suppliers and collaborate with other functions within the organisation. Work closely with the broader purchasing and logistics team, promoting a collaborative approach to support overall team objectives. Efficiently track and follow up on active requisitions to ensure timely budget approvals and part delivery. Work as part of the Prototype Build Team to achieve builds within cost, quality, and time parameters. Coordinate stock demands from initial requests through to delivering parts lineside. Collaborate with Material Planners & Controllers to agree on part release timing. Keep all relevant tracking documentation up to date. What You’ll Bring Skills and Experience: Experience working across multiple commodities. Proven commercial success within an automotive, motorsport, or engineering environment. Exceptional organisational skills, deadline adherence, and strong attention to accuracy and detail. Ability to perform well under pressure with clarity of thought and decisive authority. Ability to make structured, objective decisions and think laterally. Results-driven and capable of delivering against ambitious targets to meet overall team objectives. Familiarity with CAD-based systems for part review, preferably CATIA. Proficient in MS Office, especially Excel. Experience in supply chain and procurement, working with both small and large-value organisations. Material planning and control experience preferred. Experience using SAP products is preferred.
