Are you an experienced engineer looking to take ownership of complex engineering projects from concept through to delivery? We're seeking a talented Project Engineer to join an innovative engineering organisation specialising in the design, manufacture and delivery of complex special-purpose vehicles, systems and equipment. This is an exciting opportunity to play a pivotal role in leading engineering activities, managing technical deliverables, and working closely with project teams to ensure successful project execution.
The Role
As a Project Engineer, you will act as the key interface between Engineering, Project Management, customers and internal stakeholders, ensuring projects are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
Key Responsibilities
- Translate customer requirements into clear engineering deliverables.
- Define and manage engineering project outputs throughout the project lifecycle.
- Lead overall system design activities.
- Manage project design data and engineering resources.
- Organise and document formal design reviews, including PDRs and CDRs.
- Monitor engineering hours, budgets and project schedules.
- Liaise closely with Project Managers and cross-functional teams.
- Produce and review concept designs.
- Check and approve manufacturing drawings.
- Contribute to the continuous improvement of engineering processes and systems.
- Support systems testing and validation activities, including data logging and instrumentation where required.
What We're Looking For
Essential
- Degree-qualified in Engineering or a related discipline.
- Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status with a relevant professional institution.
- Strong 3D CAD experience, ideally SolidWorks.
- Knowledge of engineering drawing standards, including BS 8888 and GD&T.
- Experience using Microsoft Office and MS Project.
- Strong communication skills with customers, suppliers and internal stakeholders.
- Excellent report writing and project documentation skills.
- Ability to manage multiple priorities while maintaining quality and attention to detail.
Desirable
- Previous experience in a Project Engineer position.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) status or working towards accreditation.
- Experience within automotive, vehicle, defence or specialist engineering sectors.
- Knowledge of PDM, ERP and MRP systems.
- Structural analysis and FEA experience.
- Vehicle testing and instrumentation experience.
- Team leadership and mentoring experience.
