We are seeking an experienced Principal Pipeline Engineer to join a growing Energy Transition team, supporting the design and delivery of low-carbon infrastructure projects across the UK. This is a key technical leadership role, responsible for developing and overseeing pipeline and mechanical engineering solutions across a diverse portfolio of transmission projects, including natural gas, hydrogen, carbon dioxide, and wider energy transition systems.
You will be part of a multidisciplinary engineering environment, contributing across the full project lifecycle—from concept and FEED through to detailed design, construction, operation, and decommissioning.
- Lead the development of pipeline and mechanical engineering designs across low-carbon transmission projects
- Deliver engineering solutions across feasibility, concept, FEED, value engineering, and detailed design stages
- Collaborate with multidisciplinary engineering teams to develop integrated design solutions
- Support development of 3D models and plant layouts
- Contribute to proposals, bids, and multi-disciplinary project submissions
- Ensure engineering solutions are safe, cost-effective, and aligned with industry standards
Qualifications:
- Degree in a relevant engineering discipline
- Strong understanding of IGEM/TD/1, TD/13, and gas network operator standards
- Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments and contributing to 3D plant models
- Strong understanding of engineering design processes, calculations, and scope development
- Experience resolving operational and integrity-related engineering issues
- Proficiency in Autodesk software, including AutoCAD, AutoCAD Plant 3D, BIM 360
- Strong MS Office capability for technical reporting, specifications, and engineering documentation
- Experience working with clients, contractors, and stakeholders with varying technical and commercial requirements
Project Scope:
- Projects will span a range of energy transition and low-carbon infrastructure developments, including natural gas transmission (below and above 7 bar)
- Remote working with periodic travel to key UK office locations
