Principal Electrical Engineer β Low Carbon Sector: Energy Transition / Power & Infrastructure
Location: Remote (UK) with occasional travel to Manchester, London, Newcastle & Glasgow offices
We are seeking an experienced Principal Electrical Engineer to join a leading Energy Transition team , supporting the delivery of innovative, low-carbon and energy infrastructure projects across the UK and beyond.
This role will involve taking a technical leadership position within a multidisciplinary engineering environment, contributing to projects from early-stage feasibility through to detailed design, construction, and operational support.
You will play a key role in developing high-quality electrical engineering solutions across a diverse range of energy sector projects, including emerging and first-of-a-kind technologies.
Lead and support the development of cost-effective and innovative electrical engineering solutions across multidisciplinary project teams
Deliver electrical engineering work across all project stages, including:
Value engineering
Develop key electrical deliverables including:
Cable calculations
Cable block diagrams
Plant layouts and cable routing designs
Switchgear configuration philosophies
Support assessment of electrical assets in construction or operation, identifying performance risks and improvement opportunities
Provide technical leadership within EC&I electrical engineering discipline
Degree or equivalent qualification in Electrical Engineering or related discipline
Significant post-graduate experience in electrical design, operation, maintenance, or testing
Strong understanding of power and energy project design, construction, and operation
Proven ability to develop electrical engineering deliverables or assess operational/installed assets
Experience with medium and high-voltage systems , including commissioning, operation, maintenance, and testing
Strong understanding of engineering design processes, including:
Engineering calculations
Experience working within multidisciplinary engineering environments
Project Scope
Projects will support the Energy Transition and low-carbon infrastructure sector , including:
Renewable and low-carbon energy systems
Industrial and energy process facilities
First-of-a-kind and emerging energy technologies
You will work alongside developers, utilities, EPC contractors, OEMs, government bodies, and financial stakeholders.
