We are currently seeking experienced Steel Erectors to join our team on a structural steel project in Portsmouth. The successful candidates will be responsible for the installation of primary steelwork, ensuring all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications. This role requires individuals with proven experience in structural steel erection and working at height within a construction environment.

Key Responsibilities

  • Installation and erection of primary structural steelwork.
  • Aligning, positioning, and securing steel members in accordance with drawings and site instructions.
  • Working alongside crane operators, slingers, and supervisors during lifting operations.
  • Bolting and connecting steel components to required tolerances.
  • Reading and interpreting structural steelwork drawings and erection plans.
  • Conducting pre-use inspections of tools and equipment.
  • Maintaining high standards of health, safety, and housekeeping on site.
  • Following project-specific method statements, risk assessments, and permit systems.

Essential Requirements

  • Proven experience as a Steel Erector on structural steel projects.
  • Valid CSCS Card.
  • IPAF Licence (3a/3b) - Essential.
  • Experience working safely at height.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering and construction drawings.
  • Strong understanding of structural steel erection procedures and site safety requirements.

Desirable Qualifications

  • CPCS or NPORS Slinger/Signaller.
  • NVQ Level 2 or 3 in Steel Erecting or related discipline.
  • PASMA certification.
  • Working at Height training.
  • First Aid qualification.
