Role Overview
We are currently seeking experienced and qualified M&E Operatives / Wiremen to join a specialist project based in Pontypridd. This position requires individuals with proven experience working on National Grid substations, with the relevant certifications and accreditations required to work within National Grid environments. The successful candidates will be responsible for carrying out electrical installation, wiring, and mechanical & electrical works while ensuring strict adherence to health and safety regulations on a live industrial site.
Key Responsibilities
- Carry out electrical installation and wiring works within National Grid substation environments.
- Install, terminate, and test electrical cabling systems in line with project specifications.
- Read and interpret electrical drawings, schematics, and technical documentation.
- Support mechanical and electrical installation activities across site operations.
- Conduct manual handling duties safely when moving tools, equipment, and materials.
- Ensure all work is completed to required industry and project standards.
- Maintain strict compliance with all health and safety procedures while working on site.
- Work effectively as part of a wider engineering and installation team to meet project deadlines.
- Carry out work in accordance with site permits, risk assessments, and safe systems of work.
- Maintain tools, equipment, and work areas in a clean and safe condition at all times.
Essential Requirements
- Proven experience working within National Grid substations.
- Valid and up-to-date National Grid authorisations / accreditations required for site access.
- Previous experience as a Wireman or M&E Operative on industrial or infrastructure projects.
- Strong understanding of electrical installation and cable termination work.
- Manual handling experience and understanding of safe lifting procedures.
- Ability to work safely within high-risk industrial environments.
- Full compliance with all site safety regulations and procedures.
Mandatory Requirements
