We are looking for an energetic, senior-level Principal Mechanical Engineer to join a premier design and advanced technology consultancy. This is a high-impact, 12-month contract delivering transformational engineering projects across the Water and Wastewater sectors.

National (Priority hubs: Epsom, London, Peterborough, or Cambridge)
Work Pattern
Hybrid (3 days per week office/site based)
What You’ll Be Doing
- Team & Design Leadership: Coordinating and managing a talented team of mechanical engineers to deliver high-quality technical design work on complex water market projects.
- Technical Deliverables: Producing and reviewing critical design reports, detailed drawings, hydraulic and equipment calculations, and defined scopes of work.
- Equipment Integration: Driving the design integration of massive mechanical systems, including pumping configurations, blowers, screens, and chemical dosing systems.
- Mentorship & Quality: Guiding and upskilling junior engineers while adhering to strict quality assurance standards and design reviews.
What We Are Looking For
- Background: Proven experience managing or coordinating a mechanical design team within a design consultancy (Water/Wastewater market experience is essential).
- Technical Expertise: Deep knowledge of pumping systems, water treatment processes, and practical application of CDM regulations and DSEAR legislation.
- Systems Integration: Hands-on experience integrating industrial mechanical equipment into multi-disciplinary design solutions.
- Qualifications: A degree in Mechanical Engineering (Chartered or Incorporated status is highly preferred).
