We're recruiting experienced

Fabricators / Platers to join a major UK naval shipbuilding programme in Glasgow.

Working as part of a skilled production team, you'll fabricate, assemble and install structural steelwork and ship components, contributing to the build of complex defence vessels.

Key Responsibilities

  • Fabricate and assemble ship structures including shell plating, decks, bulkheads, frames and longitudinals.
  • Mark out and fit steelwork from engineering drawings.
  • Manufacture and install fabricated items including ladders, platforms, seating and panels.
  • Install watertight doors, hatches, equipment foundations and deck coverings.
  • Operate fabrication machinery including rollers, flanging machines, guillotines and saws.
  • Carry out plate preparation using oxy-fuel cutting, grinding and drilling equipment.
  • Work safely to quality and production standards within a heavy engineering environment.

Requirements

  • Time-served Fabricator/Plater apprenticeship or equivalent.
  • Experience within shipbuilding, heavy engineering, marine, defence or structural steel fabrication.
  • Ability to read and interpret engineering drawings.
  • Strong fabrication, fitting and assembly skills.
  • Oxy-fuel cutting and fabrication machinery experience is advantageous.
