Role Overview

We are currently recruiting for an experienced NG Authorised M&E Mechanical Supervisor to support a major infrastructure project based in Melksham. This role requires a highly competent supervisor with proven mechanical and electrical site experience, strong health and safety awareness, and the required National Grid authorisations to work within a regulated utility environment. The successful candidate will oversee mechanical installation activities on site, manage subcontractors and site teams, and ensure all works are completed safely, efficiently, and in accordance with project specifications and National Grid standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Supervision of mechanical and electrical installation activities on site
  • Managing day-to-day site operations and coordinating mechanical installation teams
  • Ensuring all works are carried out in accordance with National Grid project procedures and site safety regulations
  • Monitoring quality control and ensuring installation work meets project specifications
  • Coordinating subcontractors, site operatives, and delivery schedules
  • Conducting site inspections, toolbox talks, and ensuring full compliance with health & safety procedures
  • Reporting site progress, challenges, and updates to project management teams
  • Supporting commissioning and handover activities where required
  • Maintaining safe working practices at all times within live utility or energy infrastructure environments

Essential Requirements

Candidates must have all of the following:

  • National Grid Person (NG Person) Authorisation - Mandatory
  • Manual Handling Certification - Mandatory
  • Previous experience working as an M&E Mechanical Supervisor on infrastructure, utilities, industrial, or energy sector projects
  • Strong understanding of mechanical installation processes and site supervision responsibilities
  • Ability to manage teams and coordinate work activities effectively
  • Full PPE available prior to attending site (Mandatory for site access)

Please note: Candidates who do not hold the required NG Person authorisation and Manual Handling certification cannot be considered.

Desirable Experience

Advantageous but not essential:

  • Previous experience working on National Grid infrastructure projects
  • Utility, power generation, substation, or industrial construction background
  • Experience supervising multidisciplinary M&E installation teams
  • Strong understanding of permit systems and high-risk work environments

Package & Rates

Pay Rate: £40.00 per hour
