An excellent opportunity has arisen for an experienced Mechanical Inspector to join a leading manufacturer. The role will focus on mechanical inspection, calibration control, and ensuring compliance with AS9100 and EASA Part 21 standards.

Role Overview

You’ll be responsible for inspecting piece parts, sub‑assemblies, and final assemblies produced both in‑house and by suppliers/sub‑contractors. The role also supports the company\’s calibration system, maintaining accurate records and ensuring all products meet strict aerospace quality standards.

Key Responsibilities

  • Carry out mechanical inspection of company products using hand measuring tools and CNC CMM.
  • Act as Nominated DQR for release of specific customer products.
  • Certifying Staff for release of Civil Aerospace products.
  • Verify and compile FAIRs (AS9102) for both supplier and internal products.
  • Coordinate calibration activities and drive calibration improvement plans.
  • Develop GRIPs (Goods Inwards Inspection Plans) with suppliers.
  • Produce accurate Non‑Conformance Reports (NCRs) for internal/external use.
  • Maintain calibration system records using Microsoft Office (Excel, Word).
  • Communicate effectively with internal departments and support customer visits.
  • Ensure inspection is carried out to SOPs, flagging non‑conformances to reduce waste.

Experience & Skills Required

  • Proven background as a Quality Mechanical Inspector in a manufacturing environment.
  • Strong experience with mechanical measuring equipment and CNC CMM.
  • Familiarity with FAIRs to AS9102 (essential).
  • Skilled in interpreting engineering drawings and specifications.
  • Track record of producing accurate NCRs and technical reports.
  • Competent in Microsoft Office (Excel spreadsheet creation essential).
  • Strong communication and presentation skills across all levels.
  • Literate, numerically adept, and detail‑focused.

Qualifications

  • Previous aerospace/manufacturing experience required.
  • DQR and/or Certifying Staff experience desirable.
  • Additional quality/inspection training or certifications advantageous.
