We are seeking an experienced and driven Senior Electrical Engineer to join our Rail & Infrastructure Engineering team supporting the delivery of the HS2 programme. The successful candidate will lead the design, coordination, and technical delivery of electrical systems across complex rail and infrastructure projects. Working within a multidisciplinary MEICA environment, you will provide technical expertise throughout the project lifecycle, from concept and detailed design through installation, testing, commissioning, and handover. This role requires strong technical capability, leadership skills, and the ability to manage multiple stakeholders while ensuring designs are compliant, efficient, and buildable.
Key Responsibilities
- Electrical Engineering Design
- Lead the design and development of electrical engineering solutions for major infrastructure and rail projects.
- Prepare and review:

- Support the development of engineering standards, procedures, and best practices.
- Assist with resource planning and technical capability development within the engineering team.
- Coordinate electrical designs with mechanical, controls, civil, structural, architectural, and systems engineering disciplines.
- Participate in multidisciplinary design reviews and technical workshops.
- Manage design interfaces and resolve technical conflicts across project disciplines.
- Ensure effective implementation of BIM and digital engineering processes.

- Review supplier and subcontractor technical submissions.
- Support procurement activities and equipment selection.
- Provide technical support to construction and commissioning teams.
- Support the development of testing and commissioning strategies.
- Review commissioning documentation and test procedures.
- Attend Factory Acceptance Tests (FAT), Site Acceptance Tests (SAT), and integrated systems testing.
- Assist with fault diagnosis, technical issue resolution, and final project handover.
- Act as a key engineering interface with clients, consultants, contractors, and supply chain partners.
- Attend project meetings and provide technical updates to project teams and senior management.
- Support tender submissions, technical proposals, and business development opportunities.
Skills, Knowledge & Experience
Essential
- Degree qualified in Electrical Engineering, Building Services Engineering, or a related engineering discipline.
- Minimum 5-10 years' experience in electrical engineering design within infrastructure, rail, transportation, utilities, or building services environments.
- Strong understanding of:
- LV electrical distribution systems
- Lighting design
- Earthing and bonding
- Power quality and protection systems
- Electrical installation design
- Testing and commissioning processes
- Experience producing and reviewing technical calculations and design documentation.
- Familiarity with engineering assurance and design review processes.

Desirable
- Previous experience on HS2, Network Rail, London Underground, Crossrail, or major infrastructure projects.
- Chartered Engineer (CEng) or Incorporated Engineer (IEng) status, or actively working towards professional registration.
