Key Duties and Responsibilities
- Inspect, assemble, modify, service, and repair a wide range of mechanical systems and equipment, including efficient fault finding, assessment, and diagnosis to resolve issues accurately and within tight timeframes.
- Interpret mechanical and engineering drawings to manufacture and deliver high-quality components and assemblies.
- Travel internationally when required to provide on-site technical support, including assisting with the installation, operation, and dismantling of mechanical equipment and structures.
- Maintain departmental tools and equipment, including powered tools, and manage engineering stores to ensure components are prepared and available for deployment.
- Provide technical input to the design function and contribute to the development, testing, and refinement of prototype equipment.
- Carry out basic air-conditioning diagnostics, servicing, and repairs; develop and maintain service schedules; identify spare part requirements; and coordinate repair and maintenance activities.
Additional Responsibilities
- Complete all required training within agreed timescales.
- Work safely at all times in accordance with organisational health and safety policies and procedures.
- Undertake additional tasks within your skill set as reasonably requested by management.
Knowledge and Skills
- Strong ability to read and interpret mechanical layouts and engineering drawings.
- Proven capability to diagnose mechanical faults and carry out effective repairs.
- Welding and cutting experience using MIG, TIG, arc, and gas techniques.
- Basic knowledge of air-conditioning systems, including fault diagnosis and servicing.
- Understanding of machine shop practices and fabrication methods.
- High level of computer literacy.
- Broad knowledge of materials, manufacturing processes, adhesives, and mechanical fasteners.
- Ability to produce clear technical reports and supporting drawings relating to mechanical systems or operations.
- Willingness to undertake reactive and unplanned maintenance tasks.
- A methodical, reliable approach with strong attention to detail and a focus on safe, efficient working practices.

- Additional desirable certifications include operation of lifting equipment such as forklifts, telescopic handlers, cherry pickers, or scissor lifts.
