We are currently seeking an experienced Fire Systems Project Engineer to join a leading M&E Engineering company supporting the HS2 project in Birmingham. The successful candidate will be responsible for the delivery, coordination, and management of fire detection and life safety systems across a major infrastructure project. This role will involve working closely with design teams, subcontractors, site management, and clients to ensure all fire systems are delivered safely, compliantly, and in line with project specifications and programme requirements. This is an excellent opportunity to work on one of the UK's largest infrastructure projects within a fast-paced and technically challenging environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Manage the installation and delivery of fire detection and alarm systems on the HS2 project
- Coordinate fire systems works with M&E, construction, and commissioning teams
- Review technical drawings, specifications, and project documentation
- Ensure works are delivered in accordance with relevant British Standards, client specifications, and project requirements
- Liaise with subcontractors, suppliers, and internal project teams
- Support procurement of materials and equipment
- Monitor project progress, quality, and programme deadlines
- Attend site meetings, coordination meetings, and progress reviews
- Assist with commissioning, testing, and handover documentation
- Ensure all health & safety procedures are followed on site
- Produce RAMS, progress reports, and technical documentation where required
Requirements
- Proven experience as a Fire Systems Project Engineer within M&E, construction, rail, or infrastructure projects
- Strong knowledge of fire detection, fire alarm, and life safety systems
- Understanding of relevant British Standards including BS 5839
- Ability to read and interpret technical drawings and specifications
- Experience managing subcontractors and coordinating site activities
- Strong communication and organisational skills
- Proficient in Microsoft Office and project reporting tools
Desirable
- Previous HS2, rail, infrastructure, or major project experience
- FIA qualifications or relevant fire systems certifications
- SMSTS or SSSTS
- ECS / CSCS Card
- Experience with integrated building systems and commissioning processes
- Knowledge of BIM and coordinated services environments
