We are looking for an experienced Senior Project Manager to take a leading role in the delivery of major National Grid substation Design & Build projects based in Leeds. This is an opportunity for an experienced project leader who understands the demands of complex electrical infrastructure and can take ownership of programme, commercial performance, risk, stakeholder management and delivery across multidisciplinary teams. You will be working at a senior level, managing the interface between engineering, construction, commercial, HSE, commissioning, clients, contractors and suppliers. Strong knowledge of National Grid standards, NEC contracts and substation delivery will be essential.

The Role

  • Lead the successful delivery of National Grid substation Design & Build projects.
  • Manage multidisciplinary engineering, construction, commercial, procurement, HSE and commissioning teams.
  • Ensure delivery complies with National Grid SRs, Rules and relevant EPC/M&E frameworks.
  • Manage project programme, budget, resources, quality, risk and overall delivery performance.
  • Build and maintain strong relationships with clients, suppliers, contractors and key stakeholders.
  • Manage project risk and opportunity, ensuring appropriate mitigation and recovery strategies are implemented.
  • Take ownership of commercial performance under NEC contracts, including change and compensation events.
  • Monitor budgets, forecasts and project costs to ensure delivery against agreed financial targets.
  • Lead project meetings, progress reviews and senior stakeholder discussions.
  • Ensure compliance with HSWA, CDM, EAWR and other relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Drive continuous improvement and ensure lessons learned are captured throughout the project lifecycle.
  • Ensure projects are delivered safely, on programme, within budget and to the required quality standards.

What We're Looking For

You will be an experienced Project Manager with a proven background in National Grid substation construction and Design & Build delivery. You should have:

  • Demonstrable National Grid substation build experience.
  • Working knowledge of National Grid SRs and Rules.
  • Experience within EPC and/or M&E frameworks.
  • Proven leadership experience managing multidisciplinary project teams.
  • Strong commercial experience with NEC contracts.
  • Excellent client and stakeholder management skills.
  • Demonstrable experience managing project risk and opportunity.
  • Strong understanding of HSWA, CDM, EAWR and relevant regulatory requirements.
  • Experience managing significant project budgets and delivering to time and cost.
  • Experience using project management software.
  • A relevant construction, engineering or project management qualification, or equivalent experience.
  • A full UK driving licence.

Desirable

Experience with NEC4, HV transmission and distribution projects, National Grid frameworks, commissioning and handover, or major electrical infrastructure programmes would be advantageous.
