The role involves the build, assembly and installation of special purpose machinery, working with complex mechanical sub-assemblies and collaborating closely with design and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.

Key Responsibilities

  • Assemble and fit machine unit assemblies including spindles, clamps, pneumatic, hydraulic, and lubrication systems
  • Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics
  • Install hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems
  • Occasionally, you may be required to carry out onsite installations, upgrades and repairs at customer sites in the UK and internationally
  • Operate machine shop equipment such as milling machines, lathes and grinders
  • Inspect components using precision measuring tools
  • Communicate build issues and solutions to engineering and build teams
  • Participate in project planning meetings and continuous improvement initiatives

Role Requirements

  • Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
  • High level of mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
  • Flexibility to work overtime when required
  • Valid UK driving licence and passport for international travel

Experience & Qualifications

  • Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent)
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Tool Fitter, or in bespoke machinery build
  • Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems
  • Familiarity with machine shop equipment
  • Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
