The role involves the build, assembly and installation of special purpose machinery, working with complex mechanical sub-assemblies and collaborating closely with design and engineering teams to ensure successful project delivery.
Key Responsibilities
- Assemble and fit machine unit assemblies including spindles, clamps, pneumatic, hydraulic, and lubrication systems
- Read and interpret mechanical assembly drawings and hydraulic/pneumatic schematics
- Install hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems
- Occasionally, you may be required to carry out onsite installations, upgrades and repairs at customer sites in the UK and internationally
- Operate machine shop equipment such as milling machines, lathes and grinders
- Inspect components using precision measuring tools
- Communicate build issues and solutions to engineering and build teams
- Participate in project planning meetings and continuous improvement initiatives
Role Requirements
- Strong communication skills and ability to work effectively within a team
- High level of mechanical aptitude and attention to detail
- Ability to work independently with minimal supervision
- Flexibility to work overtime when required
- Valid UK driving licence and passport for international travel
Experience & Qualifications
- Mechanical Engineering qualification (City & Guilds, BTEC, or equivalent)
- Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Tool Fitter, or in bespoke machinery build
- Experience with hydraulic, pneumatic, and lubrication systems
- Familiarity with machine shop equipment
- Strong problem-solving skills and a continuous improvement mindset
