Are you an experienced Electrical Inspector with a strong understanding of IPC standards and quality inspection processes?

Do you have experience working within a fast-paced manufacturing environment and a keen eye for detail?

We are recruiting for an Electrical Inspector (IPC) to join a leading defence engineering organisation in Ampthill.

This role offers the opportunity to work on cutting-edge defence programmes, ensuring electrical assemblies and components meet the highest quality and compliance standards.

The Role

As an Electrical Inspector, you will be responsible for carrying out electrical inspection activities across a range of electronic and cable assembly products, supporting manufacturing and quality teams to deliver products that meet stringent defence industry requirements.

Key responsibilities include

  • Inspecting electrical and electronic assemblies in line with IPC standards and company quality procedures.
  • Conducting electrical testing using equipment such as Digital Multimeters and ohmmeters.
  • Ensuring products meet quality and acceptance criteria before release.
  • Managing non-conforming products and supporting investigation activities where required.
  • Following standard operating procedures and work instructions to maintain compliance and quality standards.
  • Supporting high-volume inspection activities within a manufacturing environment.
  • Working closely with production and quality teams to resolve quality issues and improve processes.
  • Assisting with fault-finding and basic problem-solving activities on electrical assemblies.

Essential Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge and understanding of IPC/WHMA-A-620 standards for cable and wire harness assemblies.
  • Experience working within an electrical or electronics manufacturing environment.
  • Understanding of ESD control procedures and the handling of sensitive electronic products.
  • Experience using electrical measurement equipment, including Digital Multimeters and ohmmeters.
  • Strong attention to detail and commitment to delivering high-quality work.
  • Ability to accurately follow work instructions and quality procedures.
  • Good fault-finding and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong communication and teamwork abilities.

Desirable Skills & Experience

  • Knowledge of IPC-A-610 standards for electronic assemblies.
  • Experience with Automated Test Equipment (ATE) programming and testing.
  • Familiarity with SAP or similar ERP systems.
  • Experience working within defence, aerospace or other highly regulated manufacturing environments.
  • Previous experience as an IPC Trainer or IPC-certified inspector would be advantageous.
  • Working Arrangements
  • Fully on-site role based in Ampthill, Bedfordshire.
  • Flexible 4-day working week (Monday to Thursday).
  • Working within a collaborative team of quality and manufacturing professionals.
  • Security Requirements
  • Candidates must be eligible to obtain Security Clearance (SC).
  • BPSS clearance is required prior to starting.
