Are you an experienced electrical engineer ready to step into a senior technical leadership role? Do you want to play a defining part in the UK’s journey to Net Zero? We are looking for a Senior Electrical Engineer with a strong background in Primary Plant Design to lead multi-disciplinary project teams from Front-End Engineering Design (FEED) through to Detailed Design.

The Role

  • Technical Leadership: Lead and quality-assure FEED and Detailed Design workstreams for core clients like National Grid and SSEN.
  • HV Plant Specialism: Review and sign off on high-voltage layout configurations, elevations, maintenance access drawings, earthing designs, mechanical interlocking, and HV busbar calculations.
  • Project & Tender Management: Manage tender packages, develop technical offers, and coordinate seamlessly with back-office engineering teams, sub-contractors, and equipment suppliers.
  • Safety & Review Leadership: Chair crucial Design Review and Hazard Review meetings, occasionally stepping in as the Principal Designer Representative.
  • Team Growth: Oversee resource allocation and mentor junior engineers, supporting their technical progression and journey toward Chartership.

About You

Your Experience & Qualifications

  • Academic Foundation: Minimum 2:2 BEng in Electrical Engineering, Energy Systems, Renewable Energy, or a closely related discipline.
  • HV Expertise: Proven experience in Electrical Engineering with a dedicated focus on Primary Plant design (experience up to 400kV is highly desirable but not essential).
  • Consultative Skills: Strong track record of managing tender packages, attending site visits, and interfacing directly with major network clients.
  • Accreditation: Chartered Engineer (CEng) status, or a clear motivation to achieve professional accreditation with our full corporate support.
