We are seeking an experienced Engineering Manager to lead a multidisciplinary engineering team within a highly innovative defence and technology environment. This role combines people leadership, engineering governance and technical programme delivery, providing the opportunity to influence product development across the full lifecycle. You will work closely with Engineering, Project Management and Operations teams to ensure products are delivered on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards. This is an excellent opportunity for a senior engineering leader with experience managing electrical, software or systems engineering teams within a complex engineering or defence environment.
Key Responsibilities
- Lead and develop a multidisciplinary engineering team.
- Drive engineering capability, resource planning and team development.
- Support the delivery of bids, projects, production and research activities.
- Ensure engineering processes, standards and best practices are consistently applied.
- Manage engineering resource allocation across multiple programmes.
- Provide technical leadership and support to resolve complex engineering challenges.
- Oversee product lifecycle management, configuration control and design governance.
- Conduct design reviews and ensure compliance with customer and regulatory requirements.
- Support strategic planning, technology development and continuous improvement initiatives.
- Work closely with stakeholders across Engineering, Operations, Programmes and Customers.
About You
We're looking for candidates with:
- Significant engineering leadership experience within a manufacturing, defence or technology environment.
- Strong understanding of electrical, software or systems engineering disciplines.
- Experience managing multidisciplinary engineering teams and technical programmes.
- Knowledge of product lifecycle management and configuration control.
- Experience conducting design reviews and managing engineering governance.
- Strong resource planning, risk management and stakeholder engagement skills.
- A proven ability to deliver projects and engineering outputs within complex environments.
- Experience within Defence, Aerospace, Electro-Mechanical Systems, Sensors, Electronics or Advanced Technology sectors would be highly advantageous.
