The Quality Engineer will be primarily responsible for supporting the daily responsibilities within the Quality department and maintaining the company's QMS standards. This includes involvement in internal/external Audits, FAIRs, calibration, inspection plans, APQP, PPAPs, and collaboration with both suppliers and customers to ensure quality requirements are met. The role demands flexibility to support a growing business, with increasing quality needs. In addition to these core responsibilities, the role will also intersect with supplier quality initiatives.

Core Responsibilities:

  • Support continual improvement of quality processes to meet AS9100, NADCAP, and customer standards.
  • Conduct internal and supplier audits aligned with the QMS.
  • Lead problem-solving from containment to root cause for internal and external non-conformances.
  • Completion of FAIRs (AS9102) and support PPAP activities (AS9145).
  • Ensure product compliance throughout product lifecycle using quality tools.
  • Track KPI with analysis on trends to launch improvement initiatives, internally and for suppliers.
  • Improve incoming inspection processing for purchased products.
  • Manage supplier approvals, review FAIR/PPAP submissions.
  • Support supplier performance management, cross-functional collaboration with suppliers to ensure performance is maintained, and actions are taken when required to improve performance.

  • Strong attention to detail, organizational skills, and adaptability in changing situations.
  • Excellent interpersonal and communication skills to drive tasks to completion.
  • Ability to work independently, as well as confidence working within a team either leading or supporting to achieve desired outcomes.
  • Knowledge of QMS (ISO 9001, AS9100) implementation and upkeep.
  • Awareness of NADCAP for NDT and welding (desirable, not essential).
  • Experience with FAIR, APQP, and PPAP, internal and supplier audits.
  • Proficient in 8D problem-solving and handling external complaints.
  • Strong analytical skills to identify and resolve complex issues.
