Working Hours: Monday to Thursday 07:30–16:15, Friday 07:30–12:30

We are currently recruiting for a skilled Mechanical Fitter to join a growing engineering business based in the West Midlands. This is a fantastic opportunity for someone with experience in machine tool fitting, bespoke machinery build, mechanical assembly, hydraulics and pneumatics.

The successful candidate will be responsible for the build, assembly and installation of friction welding machinery, working on a range of mechanical sub‑assemblies including spindles, clamps, pneumatic systems, hydraulic systems and lubrication systems.

Responsibilities
  • Fitting and assembling machine unit assemblies, including spindles, pneumatics, hydraulics and lubrication systems.
  • Reading and interpreting mechanical assembly drawings, hydraulic schematics and pneumatic schematics.
  • Installing hydraulic, lubrication and pneumatic systems.
  • Carrying out onsite installations, upgrades and repairs at customer sites in the UK and worldwide.
  • Operating machine shop equipment including millers, lathes and grinding tools.
  • Inspecting parts using precision measuring tools.
  • Communicating build issues and solutions with the wider engineering team.
  • Supporting upfront project planning meetings.
  • Contributing to continuous improvement initiatives across the build process.
Requirements
  • Previous experience as a Mechanical Fitter, Machine Tool Fitter or within bespoke machinery build.
  • Strong mechanical fitting and assembly experience.
  • Confident reading mechanical drawings and fluid schematics.
  • Experience working with hydraulic, pneumatic and lubrication systems.
  • Experience using machine shop equipment.
  • Strong attention to detail and good manual dexterity.
  • Ability to work independently with minimal supervision.
  • Strong communication skills and the ability to work effectively as part of a team.
  • Flexible approach to overtime when required.
  • Valid UK driving licence and passport, due to UK and international travel.
Qualifications
  • Mechanical Engineering qualification, such as City & Guilds, BTEC or equivalent.
