We are currently recruiting for an experienced Senior Mechanical Engineer to join the Central Engineering team of a leading international engineering and construction organisation in Dublin. This is a senior opportunity for a mechanical engineer with 7+ years' experience and a strong background in the Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences or Industrial sectors. You will take a leading role in the delivery of major, high-value projects, managing mechanical design packages from initial review through design development, procurement, construction support and handover.
The position is ideally suited to an engineer who combines strong technical mechanical knowledge with practical construction experience, design coordination skills and the ability to manage multiple project stakeholders.
The Role
- Managing mechanical design packages throughout the project lifecycle.
- Reviewing mechanical designs, specifications and contract documentation.
- Coordinating mechanical interfaces with CSA, electrical and other disciplines.
- Developing scopes of work, TIDPs and responsibility matrices.
- Identifying design risks, scope gaps and opportunities for optimisation.
- Supporting tendering and pre-construction/PCSA activities.
- Managing design deliverables and approval processes.
- Supporting procurement and ensuring mechanical packages are ready for construction.
- Reviewing designs for technical compliance and constructability.
- Attending client, consultant and design coordination meetings.
- Conducting site visits and monitoring design implementation and quality.
- Providing technical support to construction and commissioning teams.
- Reviewing technical submittals and resolving design queries.
- Supporting value engineering and off-site manufacturing initiatives.
- Managing RFIs, design changes, deviations, interfaces and other key project registers.
- Preparing technical handover documentation.
- Providing technical guidance and support to engineers and site teams.
About You
We are looking for a technically strong Senior Mechanical Engineer with experience across design, engineering and construction. You should have:
- 7+ years' post-graduate mechanical engineering experience.
- Proven experience within the Data Centre, Pharmaceutical, Life Sciences or Industrial sectors.
- Strong mechanical design and technical engineering knowledge.
- Experience managing mechanical design packages.
- Strong multidisciplinary coordination experience.
- Experience leading technical or design meetings.
- A practical understanding of construction and design constructability.
- Strong knowledge of BIM/Revit and associated design platforms.
- Excellent communication and stakeholder management skills.
- The ability to manage multiple projects and priorities in a fast-paced environment.
- A full clean driving licence.
Previous main contractor experience, significant data centre/mission-critical exposure, Chartered Engineer status or progression towards Chartership, and experience with ACC/BIM 360, value engineering and off-site manufacturing would be advantageous.
